We've been to Disneyland finally

Ok well finally we went to Disney for William's birthday. What a trip we were there for only four days but it was plenty of time to take over 1200 pictures!!! Oh boy! I already had 328 of them printed and have already done 3 two page layouts and 6 singles...

I really should have photographed these before hanging them up but I forgot. So here are 3 of my latest and greatest!

Simple Stories

Oh my goodness, while I was in Idaho I had a chance to go to Achiever's I am in love I am not going to lie.  That store is like drugs to a junkie.  But with scrapbookers and paper....haha...

Anyway, I have been wanting so badly to do Becky Higgins Project Life, but for whatever reason I cannot just commit to it.  Big surprise there!?!  Not!

Anyway, while I was there I bought some of the We R Meomory Keepers Photo sleeves and a paper pack of Year.O.Graphy and made my sorta kinda version of Project life but instead of a picture a day it is Pictures for the month.  And each month has a "2-page" layout so to speak.  Here is the page for January calendar.  Lucky me I got to travel to Idaho in the month of October so I got some pictures from then and lots of Pictures of the family to share.  So glad that I decided to do this.  I loved it so much I ended up getting the baby paper and doing a baby album for Rich's sister.  She is having a baby girl soon!

Alice and wonderland

Someday May 2012 I am going to get to take my little one to Disneyland in the mean time I keep making pages for this trip.  So that when I come home I have pages made and it will be all about throwing the pictures of the trip on the pages.  This paper is the Alice in Wonderland paper from Graphic 45 and I have to tell ya.  I love it.  I love to fussy cut.  If you have ever taken one of my classes you know that I love to make my students fussy cut.  I will admit this one was almost too much even for me!

The clock mat is made with Tim Holtz stamps and water color paper. I don't know if it is completely safe for my book but I have to be honest in 100 years I am going to be dead and my family isn't really going to care. They will be just happy I thought to save some of the stuff I have. Lets be honest when you go and look back at the stuff your parents/grandparents have saved are you glad they just saved what they saved?

Virginia park

Who here doesn't love Basic Grey, and better yet if you don't how could you not?

This layout was made from scraps.  Simple clean basic.  I need a title on it.  But it is one of those layouts that will probably always stay half finished.

There was a cute park near where we lived in Virginia that was a former dairy in civil war times, and since has become a national park for the life of me.  I can't remember the name of the park.  BOO :(  anyhow the park has a beautiful creek that runs threw it and these big rocks that you can walk on to cross to the other side and that is what the pictures are of, I was standing on the huge bridge while they were brave crossing it. The bottom left picture is William standing in a rotten tree.  Yes gross I know there were tons of bugs and stuff in there but still he wanted to stand in it.  The mushroom is just one of my obsessions.  I love to take pictures of them when I see them.  I need to do a scrapbook of nothing but mushrooms that I have photographed.

Cousins

William thinks of his cousin as his best friend they are like two peas in a pod when they get together.  This photo was taken the very last time they played together before we moved back to California.  I don't know if it is just because they are a little girl and a little boy or what but they get along so well.  This is another one of those layouts where the story is told simply by the photograph.

I scrapbook for the history of saying my photos.  I want William to one day look back in his books and be like wow my mom loved doing this and did a great job.

Emma and William I am so glad that you guys have each other.  I would never have guessed that you would be two peas in a pod when you were born.  But since the day Emma came home he has been next to her.  We all lived in the same house when Emma and William came home from the hospital.  Those were some of the best days of our lives.

It's all about the photo

For me sometimes it is just simply all about the photo.  I never really have been one to do just single page layouts.  Recently however I have found some of my favorite photos had not been scrapbook.  Because they needed to be more then just pictures on pages they needed to be THE PICTURE.

This photo was taken by my mom, while William and I visited her from Virginia.  It was her very first time meeting him, and he took to her like he had know her all his life.  I love the picture!

All Because two people fell in LOVE...when I seen this paper and this mini book by BoBunny.  I knew exactly what I was going to do with.
I ran right home with it and played with the paper and picked the ones that I loved the most and started playing. I immediately knew that I wanted to use pictures of my grandparents from when they were young and beautiful, I wanted dig threw my moms black and white photos and find the PERFECT pictures. But atlas I was not able to do that.  So now the album simply sits in my living room foot stool.  Sad I know.  But one day!
The Flowers, bling, butterflies, are all part of the Micheal's recollections line.  They hold up well and are beautiful in the book.   Most of the swirl bling has been cut up and moved around to make it fit on the book the way that was pleasing to me.
The reason I found this paper to be so special and perfect for me is because my grandfather collected keys.  Strange collection I know right. But he was a quirky man.  Because he was blind.  I am not sure why or how the collection got started but I do know that he had a large collection and some really cool skeleton keys.   This little trip down memory lane has nothing to do with my book.  But when I was a little girl  my parents took me to Niles Cannon in Fremont California and while we were in an old Antique store I found some  skeleton keys and threw a fit until my parents bought them for me ...I wanted to give them to my grandpa.
So since I told you about my grandpa I should share a story about my grandma.  She was an amazing cook and made the best, yummy, amazing foods.  She was an amazing gardener and had a green thumb like no one I ever knew.  My mom did her skill of gardening however not her cooking.  When I was making the pages to this book I was thinking my grandma would like the colors cause they are not too girlie.  She was not into pinks and anything terribly girlie she like natural colors.  But I think that she would be able to appreciate the beauty in this book.

I didn't care for the paper on this page so I decided to cover the album with some other paper I love the key hole on this page and the ribbon has a little lock on it as well as a tag tied to it.  The black lines down the sides of the page are black velvet ribbon.  The bird is also a bling.

Because the pages are so loaded with Bling, flowers, butterflies and what not I had to rotate where they laid.  Wasn't something I taught out to well.  but once I really got elbow deep in the book I realized that this was not something that was just going to be able to lay on a table nicely.  But it is going to be beautiful with pictures of my grandparents in it once I get them ;)   This is the picture that I had that inspired me.  It is a picture of my grandpa and my great grandma along with my mother as a baby.  I am not 100% sure but I believe that this would be in Wisconsin since that is where my mom was born and her family was originally from.

Smash Book and Journal your Christmas

So every year I swear that I am going to do Shimelle's Journal your Christmas this year I actually started it....

I started with a red smash album that I picked up...then added a ton of flowers, pretty red flowers and a spray that I picked up from Micheal's. I covered the front with a piece of paper to cover the plain brown....hey just cause it is winter doesn't mean it has to be drab!

The Inside cover is covered with our wrapping paper from this year. I love wrapping paper and love to see how it changes from year to you. Don't you?

The first page is my manafesto. Which is how Shimelle starts every year out. She does such a great job writing one why should I?  The top is a piece of a greeting card that I got for the holidays for my love.  And I loved it so much that I cut it up and put it in my book.  *sorry baby I did get get you a card you just never got it :)

The card is our Christmas cards that we sent out.  Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE to mail cards.  More then sending them I love to receive snail mail.  I don't know what it is but I love anything handwritten.  I guess I am just strange like that.  I included Williams snowman art work from school, and we added the jolee stickers he is a great artist but that is just a mommy talking....
This next page is his picture with Santa,  his Christmas list is in here, as well as what we did on the night of the 6th which by the way was watch a Charlie Brown Christmas.  I love snoopy and frankly it reminds me of my parents.

This year I didn't finish it, but hey I started it and that has been my goal every year for the last 5 years to just get it started.  It is a big project and for some reason I am completely scared and overwhelmed by it.
